I always enjoy reading those “Day in the Life” type blog posts, so I thought I’d do one myself. This is for today, a Thursday.
7:15am – Alarm goes off, get up, shower, dress, etc. I never dry my hair in the morning and I work in a casual office so getting ready doesn’t really take me that long.
7:50ish – Take Murphy outside for a walk. We have a big backyard but he’s a diva in the morning and won’t pee until he goes out front on the leash.
7:55. It’s a short walk. I basically turn around as soon as he pees. Start making breakfast and getting my lunch together.
8:05 – Breakfast is ready. Today I had leftover massaged cheesy kale salad topped with a drippy egg. This is not typical. I normally have much more breakfast-y foods. I just wanted that creamy avocado and kale.

8:10 – Sit down at the breakfast table with my eggy kale and a cup of coffee. I usually spend this time in front of my computer checking emails, Facebook and catching up on blogs.

8:35 – Time to go to work. As you can see, I give myself considerable time to eat my breakfast and play around online. I guess I could wake up later if I didn’t allot for that time, but it’s honestly my favorite part of the morning.
9 – Arrive at work.
12:30 – Get my lunch out and eat at my desk. Today I had leftover Wheatberry and Bean Salad (only I used pearl couscous instead of wheatberries and added feta). This picture is obviously not of the leftovers, but of the original meal. I also ate some granola.

1:00 – I would normally leave the office at this time, but today I’m signed up for a webinar from 1-2. It’s about Search Optimization.
2:00 – The webinar was about optimizing paid ads and not optimizing search engine results, so not exactly what I was expecting or really hoping for, as I don’t handle any of the PPC stuff for my company. Leave the office and head to the gym. I’m lucky that LA Fitness is only about a 5-minute drive from my office, so it’s easy for me to fit in a nice workout at lunch. When I have cardio on the agenda, I usually will go after work because I get too sweaty, but when I’m just doing weights, I can get away with not showering. Today I do some back and biceps exercises.
3:00 – Back at work.
6:00 – Leave the office for the night. If I didn’t work out at lunch, I would have gone to the gym at this time, but since I did, I just head home.
6:25 – Home. Take Murphy for a 15 minute or so walk to get some of his energy out. I actually made a video of how energetic and excited he is when one of us walks through the door, but it’s really dark and hard to see. I’ll try to do it again another time.
6:45 – Decide that I want to check out a new Farmer’s Market that just started on Thursday nights near my house.


There were about 30 vendors. I was pretty impressed. Everything from produce, to eggs, to jellies to soaps. And fresh chia juice, which I bought.

7:30 – back home. I didn’t really feel like making anything elaborate for dinner, so I just roasted some tofu, broccoli and red peppers. Works for me.

8:00 – 11:00 – Hang out, watch tv, play online, etc.
11:00 – usually go to bed.
So that’s my typical day. Is your similar or totally different?

Love picturing your day, and it sounds like a good combo of work and play. how was that chia drink??
It was good. Have you ever had Mama Chia? It was kind of like that, but a bit sweeter. If you’ve never had them before, the consistency is sort of weird like jello, but I like it.
I didn’t realize there was a Thursday night farmer’s market! I wish we had them on days other than Saturday in Midtown.
I was worried there wouldn’t be much stuff left by the time I got there because it was from 4-8, but there was plenty.
Okay, my previous comment just sounded really random. I meant that I wasn’t sure what it’d be like since I couldn’t get to it when it started since it was a Thursday!

No, it was just chia juice. I wish it was kombucha!

I can relate to the “diva dog” who will only pee on a leash in the morning. Totally.
I love “seeing” your day like this — makes me feel like I know you a little bit better. Like my sis said, I might totally have to steal this idea for a post sometime next week!
Mine is pretty similar! I do miss the option to workout at lunch though!
I definitely like working out at lunch for the time factor, but sometimes I do think that because of that, I don’t workout as hard or long as I should. Still, nice to be done by the end of the day and I don’t like working out in the morning.
I love these posts! I find it so interesting to see how other people live. And, I’m a bit jealous. Farmers market on a weeknight sounds fab.
