Dreary Day

Today was the definition of dreary.  One of those days where you just don’t want to get out of bed.  Despite having two cups of coffee, I just couldn’t wake up and desperately wanted to take a lunchtime nap in my car.  Instead, I attempted to go to Target.  I say attempted because when I got there, it started pouring and I didn’t want to get out of my car.  So I just sat there for 40 minutes.

Rain

(It wasn’t that dark out; there is some sort of Instagram filter on the picture).  While I was sitting in my car, I had this great idea.  What if there were napping stores?  Like places where you could go during your lunch break or whenever and pay a small fee to take a nap?  I don’t know if it would be like pods or beds or what, but I’d pay like $5 to take a 30 minute nap!  Someone needs to invent this.  Please.

The afternoon dragged on and by the time work was over, I was still pretty tired but made myself go to the gym, where I did a 3-mile interval run as part of the boot camp.  I actually felt much better after running and had more energy than I’d had all day.

Though it was rainy and gross out, it was hot and steamy and a typical rainy night comfort meal like soup wouldn’t do.  Instead, I made salad.  For some reason, Target has really decent frozen shrimp.  Much better than Kroger or Publix.  I bought some this past weekend, knowing that I wanted to make Celery, Artichoke, Hearts of Palm and Shrimp Salad. I’ve had this cookbook forever and I think this is actually the only thing that I’ve ever made from it, though I’ve made it several times.

And now, I can finally go to sleep.

  1. It was super yucky this morning too! But it cleared up. That weather LOOKS like nap weather!

  2. I remembered hearing about this a long time ago and went and looked it up: http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=5414327. Looks like the napping store failed, at least in this market. :(

    • Man! I would go there. Maybe the problem was that it was in a mall. I think it should be near office buildings, specifically my office building!

  3. I use to be all about Target shrimp. It tasted good and it was cheap. I think shrimp is one of the best salad proteins.

I felt the same way today except I just wanted to shoe shop which I did lol.

There are sleeping pods in the empire state building: http://travelwithterrynyc.blogspot.com/2009/04/sleep-pods-nyc-metro-naps.html
I bet it would be cheaper than $14 outside of NYC.

  4. I totally hide in my car when it rains! I hate being wet!

  5. It’s gonna be rainy like this all week, and wouldn’t you know I have a ton of errands to run.

  6. It was SO miserable today. But why isn’t it raining now at bed time?! Annoying.

  7. There’s one at Hartsfield: http://minutesuites.com/

$32 for an hour. Somedays. Totally worth it.

  8. We ran errands yesterday and it was miserable! I’m going try to embrace the relaxation of the rain and not let it bring me down! We are going to Dragon Con this weekend and I’m dreading having to be downtown in the rain! UGH!

  9. I hear at Google they have sleep pods for employees. That would be sweet.
I’ve been so tired and reluctant to get out of bed all week for some reason.

  10. Exercise always does the trick in terms of energy! Glad you got the workout in despite feeling so tired!

  11. I’ll trade you for some of this heat.
