It was warm and springy yesterday and one of those days that was best spent outside. We went to Piedmont Park for a couple of hours in the afternoon, dropped off my cousin Mandy at the wedding she was going to, and thought about a nice restaurant where we’d be able to eat outside. We settled on Six Feet Under, which has an awesome rooftop patio.
Six Feet Under is named as such because it overlooks historic Oakland Cemetery. This was our view:
It’s a pretty cemetery, not a scary one . And that picture looks like a painting, doesn’t it? Not sure how that happened considering I used my phone and I don’t think there’s an instagram filter or anything on it. Anyway, that was our view from the restaurant. You can sort of see the Atlanta skyline behind the cemetery too.
Jason ordered an extra spicy dragon toe to start out: Baked habenero stuffed with scallops and wrapped with crispy bacon. Served with a side of ranch dressing.
I tried a bit of the scallop inside and it was, in fact, extra spicy.
I almost always go with the Fish Stew at Six Feet Under but it was a warm evening and I wasn’t really feeling like soup, so I got the Shrimp & Scallops: baked in parchment with basil, black pepper and lemon. Served with homemade jalapeno tartar sauce and jalapeno hush puppies. Choose two sides.
I had double spinach for my sides and didn’t eat the hush puppies (I don’t like hush puppies. I know, I know.)
Jason had the combo tacos: choose 3 of our tacos: catfish, fried calamari, blackened shrimp or fried chicken. Served with a side of salsa verde.
He had fried chicken, calamari and shrimp. The food was really good but the view really made it special. Especially when the sun started to set. I wish I had my big camera and not just my iphone.
Nothing says spring like dining outside with good food and a good view.
