Friday nights have become our de facto date night. We’re both usually pretty tired, but want to do something since we don’t see each other much during the week, but it’s usually a low key dinner somewhere. First, Jason and Murphy had a Starbucks date of their own. Doggie coffee was really whipped cream. Apparently the person working the drive through really was enthralled with Murphy and wanted to give him a little treat.
Lately, we’ve been going to Decatur since it’s close and also all of the places there are non-smoking, but last night, we went to Little 5 Points instead. I suggested The Vortex, since we hadn’t been there in a really long time. I was a little nervous that it would be smoky, since they do allow smoking but it wasn’t bad at all.
They changed their menu slightly since the last time we’ve been and didn’t have the veggie chili that they used to have. But there was still a veggie burger on the menu, so I had that with a side salad. It tasted homemade, which is always good for a veggie burger.
Jason opted for the Hell’s Fury burger which had a sauce made purely of haberno peppers. Our server warned him about it, but he was up for the challenge.
He would like you to know that this burger used to just be called the hell burger and it wasn’t as spicy. Though it was extremely spicy (I tried the sauce), he managed to eat the whole thing. It was a bit ridiculous, but not as crazy as some of their other offerings…
We were full and satisfied. And then, in typical Lee fashion, I went to bed at 9pm.
