For the past couple of weeks, we’ve been trying to figure out a time to go to a Braves game with our friends Emily and Brian. A week or so ago, we decided to try to go to the Braves vs. Nationals game. Both Emily and I are from DC (though we moved before the Nationals became a team) so it’s always fun to see the two teams play each other. We held off on buying tickets because we weren’t sure if the weather would cooperate. It’s been raining all summer and yesterday was no exception. Emily was able to get some free tickets from a friend, though, so we decided to risk the rain and go anyway.
It was unseasonably cold out and there was definitely some rain, but fortunately, our seats were covered. Score!
First up was finding something to eat. I ended up with a veggie dog.
Honestly, it wasn’t that good, but the fact that they actually sell a veggie burger is pretty awesome to me. I also had an unpictured soft pretzel. This pregnancy metabolism rocks!
The game was sort of slow moving. The Nationals were up by two at the top of the 9th inning, but then the Braves scored two and the game was tied.
It got sort of exciting at this point. Everyone was cheering that there was a chance that the Braves could win. Pretend we’re cheering in this picture. Yay!
And then nothing happened in the 10th inning, or the 11th, or the 12th. And we started to feel more like this…
I don’t know if the players were tired too or what, but suddenly several foul balls came our way and our friend Brian caught one. He kind of hurt his hand, but he caught the ball! Despite that excitement, the game went on and on and no one scored.
Do you see that clock on the picture? It’s almost 12:30 am. The game started at 7. We decided that if nothing happened in the 14th inning, we’d leave. It didn’t, so we did. We found out in the car that the Nationals scored in the 15th inning and ended up winning the game.
And I went to bed very tired.
