All of My Time

Is it the weekend yet?  I’m not sure what this baby even does all day that requires like all of my time, but it’s something.  Fortunately, he’s pretty cute, so I can forgive him.

Alex

Alexander turned one month…well, a week ago.  I told you that I’ve been busy.  I tried to do one of those take a picture of the baby next to some sort of object on the couch pictures.

One month weird

He looks strange here, but you can see his size.  That tends to happen in picture – he doesn’t look like himself.  I had this beautiful dog growing up but she just didn’t photograph well a lot of the time.  Yes, I just compared my son to a dog.  She was a beautiful dog though.

One month better

Again, not the best picture, but you can sort of see how he’s rocking his old man hairdo.  I think the hair on top is starting to grow back but it’s really long around the sides and in the back.  Blackmail for when he’s older.

Aside from taking 2000 baby pictures, I actually have been cooking a little bit.  I’m aiming for one meal a week.  It’s a start right?  I have no idea how I’m going to get things done (like cooking and working out) when I go back to work since I can barely function when I’m at home all day, but that’s another post.

Tofu grits

For some stupid reason, I made tofu and grits.  Stupid because I don’t really like grits.  Proof that I’m not really from the south, I suppose.  The tofu was good though.  I liked the addition of tomatoes for moisture.

One pot wonder

I also made this One Pot Wonder. It took a lot longer than 10 minutes to reduce the sauce and I worried that the pasta would be overcooked, but it was fine.  I liked how easy this meal was, though I don’t typically eat a lot of pasta, so I’m not sure how often I’d make it.

One pot wonder2

So that’s been my week so far.  Taking a bunch of pictures of Alex and cooking a few things.  It’s taken up 100% of my time.  Well, that and sleeping, I guess.  And drinking copious amounts of coffee.

  1. Amazing how much time they take up- right?! Glad you’ve been able to get some cooking in. I always feel like that relieves stress!

  2. Eventually you’ll get it figured out and settle into a good routine. But yes, kids just take up so much time. That’s why I think we’re stopping at 2. It’s like, yes, I have more love to give, but time? Nope, I’m all out of that. Happy weekend!

  3. I had the same fear when I went back to work…but you adjust pretty quickly. I need do a post on my time management as a working mom. But, in short, here’s my daily (M-F) schedule:

    4:15am: Wake up
    4:30-5:15: Workout
    5:15-6:15: Get ready/east breakfast
    6:15: Leave for work
    3:45: Home from work
3:45-6:45: Play with baby Trey, Make Dinner, Eat, (Keith comes homes around 6:00)
6:45-7:30: Trey’s bath and bed time routines.
    7:30-9:00: Hang with Keith
    9:00: BED

I know I wake up ridiculously early but I have to be at work by 6:30.

  4. He is adorable. Seriously so small! but so cute.
